Bukhara: towards the outskirts

Decorations, Emir's Summer palace

Stunning, traditional Bukharan ornamentation and design in one of the rooms of the Emir's Summer palace. The portrait is from the last emir, Mir Said Alim Khan, who reigned as an absolute monarch from 3 January 1911 to 30 August 1920. He was the last descendent of Genghis Khan to rule over a part of what was the Mongol Empire.
