Respect of History Monument

The “Respect of History Monument” is in the Tarihe Saygi Parki, a 12 metre high sculpture group in Eceabat, with the statue of “Mehmetçik”, a Turkish soldier who carried a wounded Australian captain from where he had fallen near the Turkish trench to the trench of his comrades. It also depicts soldiers of the nationalities that participated in the battle, British, New Zealander, Australian, Indian and Turkish, and a quote by Atatürk: “Peace at home, peace in the world”.
