Imperial Standard, 1876

The Imperial Standard of the Ottoman Sultan, displays the “Tuğrâ”, his calligraphic monogram, seal or signature with a decorative border on a pink or bright red background. This flag was the Standard of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, who reigned from 1876 until deposed in 1909. He was the last Sultan to exert effective control over his fracturing country.
