Edirne, the second major capital of the Ottomans

Gate, Edirne Palace

Bab'üs Sa'ade (Felicity Gate) and Cihannüma Kasrı (Panoramic Pavilion) in the background. It is what remains of Edirne Palace (Edirne Sarayı), formerly the New Imperial Palace (Saray-ı Cedid-i Amire‎) a palace of the Ottoman sultans in Edirne, when the city was the capital of the empire, from 1369 to 1453. Few of the palace buildings have survived; however, works are underway for its reconstruction.
