Shigatse: the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery

Chorten, Tashi Lhunpo Monastery

The large chorten or stupa that was constructed between 1985 and 1989 to house relics of previous Dalai Lamas, that had been thrown in the river by Chinese Red Guards who had broken open the original stupas containing them, when they ransacked the monastery.
