Kalsang Dekyil Palace, Norbulingka

Kalsang Dekyil Palace, built in 1926, was where the 13th Dalai Lama practiced tantric Buddhism. This palace has marvellous sculptures as well as striking murals eg. the Holy Land - Potala and the Holy Land- Gedang. Wood Carving patterns in the palace used lots of typical traditional patterns from Chinese Han: this palace obviously mixes the cultures of Chinese and Tibetans.
