The iNcwala or First Fruits Ceremony in 1974-75

Throwing lusekwane

Boys throw “lusekwane”, the shrubs they collected the night before, on a big pile, to be used to cover the “inhlambelo”, the sacred enclosure in the Royal “sibaya”, the cattle byre, where the king will conduct the most important rituals of the iNcwala or First Fruits ceremony.
