The iNcwala or First Fruits Ceremony in 1970

King joins emabutfo

His Majesty King Sobhuza II with members of his “Balondolozi” regiment (and police) has emerged from the “inhlambelo” enclosure and joins the other “emabutfo” regiments to dance on the last day (“Lukhuni”) of the iNcwala ceremony in Lobamba. The pyre that was lighted by the King is supposed to be extinguished by rain at the end of the ceremony; it usually is!
