The iNcwala or First Fruits Ceremony in 1970

Royal children

Many more “emabutfo”, traditional Swazi regiments, join the dance in the “sibaya” in the course of the main day of the iNcwala ceremony. The King's children dance, facing the warriors, his young sons in front, then his young daughters in their “indlamu”, short bead skirts and, if married, wearing black “sidvwaba” skirts and brightly coloured “emahiya” over their shoulders. The King's adult sons are in their regiments, like the man in the foreground, wearing the Royal “ligwalagwala” feathers in his hair.
