The iNcwala or First Fruits Ceremony in 1970

iNcwala headdress

Mr. Vilakati, belonging to the “Balondolozi” regiment, being helped with his costume in front of their “emalawu”, regimental huts, for the main day of the iNcwala ceremony. His headdress is made from monkey fur with feathers of the “sakabula” bird. The man helping him wears the traditional “umbodze” head ring.
