The iNcwala or First Fruits Ceremony in 1970

Boys at iNcwala

Three boys at the start of the iNcwala lenkhulu (Big iNcwala) ceremony; in the background is the “sibaya”, the cattle byre, in Lobamba, where most ceremonies will be held. This day they will march to fetch “lusekwane”, an acacia shrub that will later be used in the ceremony.
