The uMcwasho Ceremony

Father and daughters

Mr. A.K. Hlophe, the Minister of Agriculture, with his small daughters at the big dance of the “uMcwasho” girls ceremony in the Somhlolo National Stadium in Lobamba. He carries a battle axe and the girls carry the torches, that have become part of the costume for the Reed Dance, when girls cut reeds during the night.
