Ngwenya Iron Mine

The pit at the open cut Ngwenya Iron Mine to the north west of Mbabane. Mining took place between 1964 and 1977. The mine is considered to be the world's oldest: hematite ore was already used in the Middle Stone Age to extract red ochre.
