Paramaribo, Suriname's Capital

Old pharmacy, Fort Zeelandia

The Old pharmacy in Fort Zeelandia, the star-shaped 18th-century fort, built by British colonists in 1651 around a small trading post created by the Dutch, in Paramaribo. The saying on the wall reads: “No powder, patch, pill, benefits of its own will, pay me for ointment and drink and bring your thanks to God”.
