KwaZulu, 1977

KwaZulu’s coat of arms had been registered in 1972 and displayed a traditional Zulu cowhide shield with a Royal Sceptre, resting on a green base. The top shows a traditional head-ring and an elephant’s head. A leopard and a lion support the shield, both clasping a spear. The motto in isiZulu is “SONQOBA SIMUNYE” (‘Together we shall win’).
