QwaQwa, 1975

QwaQwa, 1975

QwaQwa’s coat of arms displayed a traditional Sotho shield with a representation of Sentinel Peak in the Drakensberg mountains on the Lesotho border, a crocodile and a leopard, all yellow on a green background, topped by a “Mokorotlo”, the Basotho hat. Behind the shield was an assegai (spear) and a battle axe; two Basotho ponies supported it. The motto in Sesotho is “KOPANA KE MATLA” (‘Unity is Strength’).
