Lebowa, 1974
Lebowa’s coat of arms had been registered in 1972. It consisted of a quartered shield, the first and fourth quarter symbolising the importance of water, necessary for farming and cattle-ranching, indicated by a corncob and a bull’s head. A flame was on top of the shield, supported by two leopards. The motto at the bottom, in sePedi, a Northern Sotho language, is “MPHIRI O TEE GA O LLE” (‘A single bangle cannot produce a sound’).
