Ciskei, 1974
Ciskei’s coat of arms had been registered in 1972 and consisted of a red and yellow shield featuring a bull’s head and a green tree. Four ivory rings topped it, with a blue crane holding a sprig with nine leaves in its beak. Behind the shield were a crossed assegai (spear) and a knobkerrie (club). Two leopards supported it. The motto at the bottom, in isiXhosa, “SIYAKUNQANDWA ZIINKWENKWEZI”, stands for 'Reach for the Stars'.
