Gazankulu, 1973

Gazankulu, 1973

Gazankulu’s coat of arms consisted of an oval shield, the top half blue with, in gold, two traditional wooden spoons connected with a 6-links chain. The bottom half was white with two cogwheels and black with a red and yellow flame. A red lion carrying a horn was on top of the shield, supported by a buffalo and an antelope. The motto at the bottom, in the Xitsonga language, was “MINTIRHO YA VULAVULA” (‘Deeds Count’).
