United East India Company, 1602

On 6 April 1652, Jan van Riebeeck arrived with two ships in Table Bay at the future Cape Town site and established a way station for the “Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie” (VOC - United East India Company), a Dutch trading Company founded in 1602. Its flag was the Dutch Tricolour with the Company emblem on the white stripe.
