Republic of San Marino

Parliament Hall

The Hall of the Great and General Council, the State legislative body, in the Palazzo Pubblico, the Government Palace of the Republic of San Marino. It functions as the Parliament and has 60 elected members. The large painting on the front wall is entitled “San Marino (Saint Martinus) appears to the people”, painted by Emilio Retrosi in 1894. Marinus founded a small community of Christians on Mount Titano in 301; his name lives on as the name of the country.
