Boudhanath stupa, a sacred site in Tibetan Buddhism

Deer and Dharma Wheel, Boudhanath Stupa

The Deer and Dharma Wheel on the parapet above the main entrance of the Guru Lhakhang Monastery (Tamang Gompa), opposite Boudhanath stupa. The deer and wheel specifically represent the Buddha’s first teaching after his awakening, when he “turned the wheel of the Dharma” at Deer Park near Sarnath, India.
