Standing Buddha

The huge standing image of the Buddha called the Shweyattaw (literally standing) or Byadeippay (prophesying) Buddha with his right hand pointing towards the city in Byar Deik Paya, a pagoda near the top of Mandalay Hill. Legend has it that the Buddha prophesied that in the 2400th year of his faith a great city would be founded here.
