The Altai Eagle Festival

Eagle swooping down

Eagles are trained to hunt rabbits and foxes and in the “Shaqyru” competition the “bürkit”, hunting eagle, has to show its skills; perched on a hill about 100 metres away, it must swoop down and catch a piece of fox or rabbit fur that is pulled by its master. Here the hunter has dismounted, trying to lure the eagle, ready to pounce.
