Embassy Sovereign Military Order of Malta

The Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in St. John Bastion. It was built in the mid 1560’s to protect the main gate of what would become the city of Valletta. The embassy is called the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, officially the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta. Commonly known as the Order of Malta, it is a Catholic lay religious order.
