Kingdom of Sicily, 1282

Kingdom of Sicily, 1282

The Normans under Count Roger I ended Muslim rule in Malta in 1091; it became part of the Kingdom of Sicily. From 1282 the kingdom was ruled by the Spanish Crown of Aragon. In this form, possibly from the late 13th century, the flag displayed alternating vertical red and yellow bands with depictions of black eagles on white triangles.
