Nyasaland Protectorate, 1919

Nyasaland Protectorate, 1919

In 1919, the flag was changed slightly: the British Blue Ensign now had a larger Coat of Arms directly on the fly: a shield, black on top and white on the bottom, separated by a wavy line symbolising Lake Nyasa. It showed a leopard standing on Mount Mulanje, Nyasaland’s highest peak at the bottom and a golden sun rising at the top.
