Lesotho Coat of Arms, 2006

Lesotho Coat of Arms, 2006

With the change in the national flag on 04 October 2006, there were also some colour modifications to the Coat of Arms. The overall design however remained the same as the original of 1966. It features a crocodile in dark blue, on a brown winged Basotho shield with a plumed spine, symbol of the Sotho people. Behind the shield are two crossed weapons, a barbed assegai (spear) and a knobkerrie (club). The shield, standing on the summit of Thaba Bosiu, now in blue, is supported by two Basotho horses. On the ribbon is the national motto of Lesotho: Khotso, Pula, Nala (Peace, Rain, Prosperity).
