Eternal Rome, Italy’s capital

Entering San Paolo

A group of tourists enter the new cloister in front of the Basilica of San Paolo Fuori le Mura; the original church, on the site of what is believed to be St. Paul's burial place, was almost destroyed by fire in 1823 and a new cloister was built as part of the new church after that year. The old cloister, however, survived.
