Relics of the Cross

In a chapel inside the Basilica di Santa Croce in Gerusalemme (Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem) are what is said to be fragments of the cross on which Christ was crucified. The fragments are believed to have been brought back from the Holy land by Saint Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine, who became the first Christian emperor. They are placed inside the silver cross.
