Herculaneum

House of the Bicentenary

The House of the Bicentenary, thus named because it was excavated in 1938, 200 years after the discovery of the ruins of the town of Herculaneum. The house, which belonged to Gaius Petronius Stephanus, was one of the finest private houses in the town.
