Milot, Haiti’s first site capital
The back of the Sans-Souci Palace in Milot, the royal residence of King Henri I (Henri Christophe) who founded a short-lived kingdom in the north of Haiti. Construction of the palace started in 1810 and was completed in 1813. A severe earthquake in 1842 destroyed a considerable part of the palace and it was never rebuilt.
