Ethiopian Empire, 19th Century

Ethiopian Empire, 19th Century

Although a national flag was foreign to local tradition, it seems banners with the colours yellow, red and green were flown. The colours red, yellow and green had special importance since at least the early 17th Century. It was a symbol of the Ethiopian Empire’s Solomonic dynasty with a connection to the Holy Trinity.
