Neptune and Amymone Mosaic

A mosaic floor panel of the central court or atrium, of the Greco-Roman House of Dionysos, a wealthy villa in Kato Paphos Archaeological Park. It represents the myth of Neptune (Poseidon), the god of the Sea and Amymone, the blameless, whose identity is symbolised by the water jug, with Eros depicted between them. The villa was built at the end of the 2nd century CE. It was destroyed and abandoned after the earthquakes of the 4th century CE.
