Limassol District - to the Troodos Mountains

Wine press, Laneia

The old wine press in the village of Laneia (Lania), 26 kilometres from Limassol, at the foot of Mount Troodos. According to tradition, Laniea got its name from Lana, daughter of the Greek god of wine and pleasure, Dionysos. It indicates the deep roots of the village in the field of vine-growing and wine-making: it is well known for the high quality of its grapes and wines.
