Lefkoşa, the Turkish part of Nicosia

Kirlizade Street, North Nicosia

Kirlizade Sokak (Street) past the Haydar Pasha Mosque, formerly the 14th century Frankish St. Catherine's Church, upon the conquest of Nicosia by the Ottomans in 1570 converted into a mosque. In the background the minaret of the Yenicami (Yeni Jami, “new mosque”), founded in the mid 18th century, in the historic Yeni Jami neighbourhood in the north-east part of Nicosia within the walls.
