Hotel Nacional

The Hotel Nacional, on Taganana hill overlooking the sea on the Malecón in Vedado. Built in 1930 with its art deco details as a copy of the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida, it was notorious when in December 1946 US mobsters Meyer Lansky and Lucky Luciano used it to host the largest ever get-together of the North American Mafia, who gathered here under the guise of a Frank Sinatra concert. It hosted many famous Americans before the Revolution.
