Along the Malecón, Havana

Castillo de San Salvador de la Punta

Cannons at Castillo de San Salvador de la Punta, a fortress at the entrance to Havana Bay that, when the town was being settled, had become the entry point to the harbour and the town. Because of the attacks and pillaging by French corsairs, it was resolved in 1559 to post lookouts at La Punta. Opposite is the Castillo De Los Tres Reyes Del Morro, fulfilling the same purpose.
