The Plaza Vieja (Old Square), Havana’s most architecturally eclectic square, where Cuban baroque nestles seamlessly next to Gaudí-inspired art nouveau, with Viaje Fantástico, a sculpture by Roberto Fabelo, depicting a woman with a huge fork sitting on a rooster. Originally called Plaza Nueva (New Square), it was laid out in 1559, initially used for military exercises and later served as an open-air marketplace.
