Tiwanaku (Tiahuanaco), an ancient ceremonial centre

The Idol, one of two large anthropomorphic figures standing in the southwest corner of the Kalasasaya Temple in Tiahuanaco or Tiwanaku, a political and ceremonial centre constructed over 1000 years ago. Hieroglyphic-like carvings cover its 2 metre height.
