Punakha, Bhutan's previous capital

Chimi Lhakhang monastery

Chimi Lhakhang was founded and built in 1499 and blessed by Lama Drukpa Kunley (1455–1529), known as the “Mad Saint” or “Divine Madman” for his unorthodox ways of teaching Buddhism through singing, humour and outrageous behaviour, which amounted to being bizarre, shocking and with sexual overtones. He also built the chorten on the site.
