Aboriginal Rock Paintings

Detail, Mt. Barnett

Detail of an Aboriginal rock painting in a cave at Mount Barnett, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. It depicts a snake, considered a fertility spirit, living in a waterhole, fertilising a woman; when she will give birth the child's soul belongs to that place and will return there after death.
