Aboriginal Initiation Ceremonies from Northern Australia

While men sing and clap boomerangs together young men dance a short fast stepping dance, representing the movements of the frilled lizard during a “Mandiwa” initiation ceremony in Barunga. They dance in small groups, consisting of tribal brothers, in front of the initiates.
