Aboriginal Ceremonies from the Tiwi Islands
Decorated poles at a “Pukumani” funerary ceremony in Pularumpi (Pirlingimpi), on Melville Island. These carved and painted “Pukumani poles” are commissioned by the family of the deceased and used to be placed around the grave, typical of the people living on the Tiwi islands.
