Aboriginal Ceremonies from Northern Australia

Waiting for the rituals

Boys waiting for the start of the rituals of the “Ngarrag” or “Mardayin” ceremony in Numbulwar, an Aboriginal community on the western Gulf of Carpentaria. White men had been invited to participate, but, not having been initiated into the rituals, they had to stay with the boys.
