Democracy Square

The socialist-realist sculpture “5 Heroes” on Sheshi 5 Heronjte, the square in the centre of Shkodra, as it stood until 2008; in 2009 the statue was removed and replaced by a fountain; the square was renamed Sheshi Demokracia as a sign that democracy has replaced the admiration for communist heroes.
