Bukhara: towards the outskirts

In Fayzulla Khojaev House

Traditional Bukharan ornamentation and design in the rooms in the house of Fayzulla Khojaev, now a museum honouring his memory. He was one of the leaders of the Young Bukharan Party (Jadids) against the rule of the Emir of Bukhara, but had to flee; he returned after the Emir himself fled in September 1920 when the Red Army overthrew his administration; he became the president of the Bukhara People’s Republic and later first prime minister of the Uzbek SSR.
