The Atjoni landing in Pokigron, a village in the heart of Suriname, inhabited by about 500 Saramacca Maroons. The village is located on the left bank of the Upper Suriname river, just southwest of the Brokopondo reservoir (formerly Prof. dr. Ir. W.J. Blommensteinmeer) and is the last village, 184 kilometres south of Paramaribo, accessible by road.
