Prime Minister of Suriname, 1975

Prime Minister of Suriname, 1975

The Standard of the Prime Minister of Suriname, introduced in 1975, became obsolete in 1988 when the position of PM was abolished and replaced by that of Vice President. On a white field with a broad yellow border is the state arms: a shield with a Dutch sailing ship, a palm tree and a diamond with the yellow star, supported by two Amerindians and the National motto, “Justitia, Pietas, Fides” (Justice, Piety, Faith). It dates back to the 17th century and the time of Dutch rule, but was revised in 1959 and 1975.
