Around the island of Niue

Matapa Chasm

Matapa Chasm, carved out by the sea and a favourite swimming spot: fresh cool water from a stream made this chasm a favourite swimming place for the kings of Niue in the old days. It is near the village of Hikutavake, 12 kilometres north of Alofi.
